NEW MONASTICISM

It sounds odd to apply the word "new" to anything monastic because monasticism is such an ancient way of being in the world--but not of the world.  And yet, when you get past that jarring juxtaposition of words, and attempt to explore, understand and explain this relatively recent cultural, spiritual and religious  movement, you will find a fascinating patchwork of postmodern thought, theology, and in-the-world ministries.

The links below offer a diverse selection of information, organizations and inspiraton regarding new monasticism. It is not a monolithic movement with one high profile founder/leader and spokesperson providing a coherent and consistent teaching.

As time permits, brief descriptions of these websites will be added.
